I love crafting with my boys! I enjoy paints, chalk, colorful science experiments, crafting with nature and much more! As a mom of 3 under 4, I like to keep it simple and organized so that I can craft without much prep and keep cleanups quick. Below you’ll find my top recommendations for organizing your crafting supplies. What to always keep on hand and a list of some fun crafting kits that are all inclusive activities you can unbox and enjoy.

First things first, how do we keep the clutter to a minimum. While I love crafts, I don’t keep much artwork lying around. If my kids are particularly proud of something I’ll display it on the fridge or use an art frame to show off their creations. Additionally, I keep a set of drawers beside our family table that are labeled with “markers”, “crayons”, “paints”, “paper“, “Miscellaneous” (stickers/glue sticks/scissors/googly eyes). Here are the drawers we’ve been using. To further organize things. I also have small boxes to contain crayons/markers/pencils since these items tend to be dumped out by toddlers and create a great big game of 182 pick up! No fun! Instead, I just place the box of crayons on the table and they can pull from that instead of accosting the drawers.

We also have some unique crafting supplies that have been successful at holding my boys’ attention for longer. They love the sticker wow books. However, they ran out of stickers in the dispenser pretty quickly. Luckily, my husband discovered we can purchase replacements. They use these sticker dot markers on most of their projects. In that same vein, we keep dot markers and dot markers coloring books at the ready. Toddlers love dot markers since they’re so easy for them to use and my boys like pounding on the paper with a dot markers more than gently scribbling with a crayon. Since they’re aggressive crafters, boys being boys, we have mats we often place down to preserve our table from the world of modern art craft.

My top kids craft kit recommendations to keep little ones engaged! These are unbox and go kind of crafts. I typically just use my craft supplies but occasionally enjoy splurging on an open and go craft activity to try something new.

  1. A great mosaic kit (This one even comes with a national geographic book for you and your kids to enjoy)

  2. Modeling clay

  3. Fingerpainting kit (More like water coloring with your hands. Very easy for littles and no set up besides water for you).

  4. Wind chime kit (Littles are able to paint the pots but will need help stringing the chimes. They'll love pointing out their creation when they pass it in the garden or on the porch).

  5. Spirograph (A classic activity and one of my personal favorites as a kid).
